About Our Cause
On February 25, 2011 Terry Butler passed away after a battle with cancer. After working at the University of Mass (Boston), University of Tennessee, (Chattanooga) and the University of South Alabama, Terry was working in Rhode Island on the campus of The University of Rhode Island at the Ryan Center.
Terry was born and raised in Hampton, New Jersey and was an active member of the NHRHS Class of 1974. He was very proud of his Hunterdon County roots.
In Terry’s memory, the Butler family has established a scholarship for a graduate of the University of RI who has also worked at either The Ryan Center of Boss Ice Arena. In June 2011 the family donated the first scholarship award to a recent URI graduate who had worked at The Ryan Center. The family has continued this and is looking forward to this annual tradition.
The family has expanded the scholarship from RI and included a scholarship for a North Hunterdon and a Voorhees High School graduate starting with the class of 2014. In addition to providing a scholarship for a graduate of URI, the family will be providing a scholarship for a graduate from the North Hunterdon/Voorhees Regional School District.
